Well, well, well!  Here I am world…my very first blog post.  I read so many blogs (well, “stalk” may be a better word) that I woke up today and decided to create my own!  I am innovative like that.  Where to begin??  Well, I guess I will start with our current master bath remodel.

As anyone who has visited our home knows, our money pit home has been the beneficiary of a ton of work.  New windows, new HVAC, new plumbing, new appliances, new paint, basically new everything.  And while we have done so much, it is still quite the work in progress…the current progress happening in the master bathroom.

The bathroom project began one fine Spring morn after our daily coffee time.  I pointed out to my sweet Brian that we had an alarming leak on the hallway ceiling…directly above the master bathroom.   After summoning the plumbing Gods through a facebook post, my BFF Cindy’s dad rode over on his white horse from Holden Road to slay the moldy dragons.  Turns out, it was not going to be an easy fix.  “Yep, you are going to have to replace it”, he said.  When I asked, “This is going to be a mess, isn’t it?”  He chuckled and said, “Oh yeah.  A big mess.”  Of course.

So after 3 estimates, and a commitment to sacrifice my first born (just kidding, Casey), we contracted with a shower repair company.  Here’s what the project looks like right now:

Of course, during the course of this work, we are relegated to showering in the girls bathroom.  Since I usually avoid entering this netherworld of hair products and dirty towels piled in the corner at all costs, this has been quite an adjustment.  In other words:  I cannot WAIT to have my bathroom back!

After the shower is completed (with a new solid glass door that is going to be six inches wider than the old door), I plan to paint the ceiling Sherwin Williams color “rainwashed”…a pale blue green that will look fab with the newly de-wallpapered (1970’s wallpaper patterns are another post entirely) & repainted white walls.  I am going to take the closet door off of the hinges & paint the inside the same “rainwashed” color.  The shelves will get a fresh coat of white paint slapped on them, and some lovely baskets (that I find on sale) will hold my myriad of beauty products.  I hate the way the closet door & bathroom door bang together anyway–definitely a design flaw.  I may even repaint the bathroom vanity a neutral beige (to replace the existing repainted white cabinet).  Stay tuned for more details & photos!
